On September 14, 2008, Hurricane Ike hit the coast of Texas like a freight train out of control. The city of Gilchrist, Texas was hit so hard it was flattened like a pancake. As far as the eye could see, everything was destroyed, leaving behind a barren scene of nothingness. Only one house remained standing amongst the scattered debris.
How could this happen? How come only this house survived the devastating blow? I don’t know. I’m not a religious-oriented person, but the only explanation I can think of, is an “Act of God”.
Floodwaters from Hurricane Ike were reportedly as high as eight feet in some areas causing widespread damage across the coast of Texas. Hurricane Ike has caused losses of between eight and 18 billion dollars, according to early estimates from risk assessment companies on September 13, 2008. My heart feels for the suffering people of Texas, Cuba and Haiti.
