Welcome Gift

How To Win Friends & Influence People

My boss welcomed me aboard MAFC flagship with an interesting book as a gift entitled “How to Win Friends & Influence People”. Apparently everyone in my department owns the book as boss presents it to any new team member that joins our department! Cool!

The book in brief :

Would you like to make more friends? Would you like to be able to persuade more people to your way of thinking? Would you like to be a better parent? A better salesperson? Then you will want to put How To Win Friends & Influence People on your annual reading list.

How To Win Friends & Influence People is one of the granddaddies of the self-help genre. Dale Carnegie first published the book in 1937. It has continued to be popular because of the always-appealing topic and because of Dale Carnegie & Associates, Inc., the organization that perpetuates Dale Carnegie’s courses.

yet just another reading assignment

  1. It is a well meaning gift but I am very suspect when a book teaches you to “win” friends and “influence” others. I think friendships and/or respect are not won over nor influenced by your actions but earned.

I would love to recommend, somewhat along the same vein, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. This is an approach that works on the reader in bettering themselves and, in turn, bettering their relationships.

But hey, I’m one of those highly opinionated people.
